Even though we're almost eight years apart in age, my sister is absolutely one of the best friends I could ever ask for. I love her so much. Who else would call me on a whim when she knows I'm feeling sick, just to sing "Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty" gently in my ear to lull me to sleep? Who else will watch a "Bad Lip Reading" of The Hunger Games with me over and over and over and over again... each time, with tears running down our cheeks. Who else is as afraid of spiders as I am? Who else is as terrified of creepy mockingbirds as I. I'll tell you who... no one. Who else can understand the complex character that is encompassed in "Herbert" on Family Guy? Who else can fully appreciate Seth MacFarlane? Only Pete. I give her six swims.
April is my "little" sister, but I look up to her. Not literally, because she's short. Fun-sized. She's hilarious and has a great personality - not like "oh yeah, but she has a great personality;" you know, that old standby phrase when you have to say something really nice about a girl because she's kind of ugly? Nope, I don't mean that at all. She's beautiful. Inside and out. She knows how to be silly and have a knee-slappin' good time. She's often described as being "zazzy" and "cloying." But, she's extremely grounded and stands firm in her beliefs and convictions. I'm so proud of her for making big decisions like that at such a young age... it took me a little bit longer and I'm still working on it every single day. She lives with she believes.
She's such a smarty pants. I think she can name all of the bones in the human body. She has a t-shirt with an image of the period table of elements. She understands a lot of the things that Dr. Sheldon Cooper discusses. She reads books on the human psyche FOR FUN. She's a full-time student and her goal in life is to attend every university in the continental United States (hahahaha - JUST KIDDING, Pete). For real though, even though she's had to put a lot of thought, prayer, and research into what she's really called to do with her life, she's done amazing throughout every single aspect of her education. I'm really proud of her for taking a huge leap of faith and switching from Occupation Therapy to Family Counseling. A lot of people may think that her decision was stupid; a waste of time. But, there's a reason for EVERYTHING that happens in our lives. She was meant to be a part of an a great OT program for a season, but now she's in a new season of life. And she's going to be a fabulous counselor. At least I really hope so... I'm going to need the family discount.
I swear this isn't a "plug" or anything... she may murder me in my sleep when I come to Ohio to visit over Thanksgiving. But, I just have to say this... any guy would be beyond lucky to have someone like April in their life. She's adorable. She has great hair. She rocks at makeup artistry. She loves to read and write. She loves to discuss bodily functions. She has a super precious wardrobe. She's tiny. She has the most contagious laugh you'll ever encounter. She likes Anchorman and Family Guy. She makes really good coffee. She's a wonderful bakess. She's a really strong Christian. She's loyal, committed, and follows through with her promises. She's pretty much the best.
So, yep, I'm thankful for my baby sister, my Fluff, my Pete.
~ Heather
